Up Close and In-Person: Behind the Scenes of MKTG WMN’s Coworking Event at Wistia

With seemingly never-ending Zoom calls, remote and hybrid work, and predominantly digital connections, one of our co-founders, Natalie Cantave, captured a sentiment in a recent MKTG WMN weekly newsletter that many of us share: We need community now more than ever.

On January 29th, thirty of Boston’s most dynamic marketers gathered at Wistia’s Cambridge office for our inaugural MKTG WMN Connect event—a day filled with authentic connection, professional growth, and productivity.

A Day of Coworking, Connection, & Career Growth: Breaking the Ice over Breakfast

Gone were the meetings that could have been an email and dreaded LinkedIn cold pitches. Instead, marketers from tech giants, healthcare organizations, and creative agencies found common ground and connection over breakfast and coffee.

Attendees shared career stories, insights, and strategies - and the energy was magnetic throughout Wistia’s thoughtfully and beautifully designed office space.

MKTG WMN Connect Agenda

Marketing veterans share their journeys on moving up the ladder

Our morning panel, "The Future of Marketing Leadership," brought together three powerhouse marketers:

The Future of Marketing Leadership morning panel discussion

These leaders shared their perspectives on career pivots, navigating uncertainty and challenges, climbing the marketing leadership ladder, and more. Attendees appreciated their candor and unfiltered insights on what it takes to become a marketing leader today.

MKTG WMN Connect created a space for attendees to choose their work-day adventure

What sets MKTG WMN Connect apart? Flexibility and personalization.

Attendees could:

- Focus on independent work in Wistia's inspiring space

- Capture professional headshots with Deveney Williams of Sunny Side Up Studios

- Engage in one-on-one career coaching with Liza Dube, MKTG WMN's coach-in-residence

Here’s what one attendee had to say about the day:

“This was my favorite networking event I’ve ever attended. I really appreciate how the connect was structured, with just the right mix of thought leadership, networking, and professional development resources to get the most out of the day, while allowing flexibility to explore and work at the Wistia space during down time.”

A fireside chat with Wistia’s leadership

The afternoon brought another highlight: an intimate conversation with Chris Savage, Wistia’s CEO, and Taylor Corrado, Senior Director of Brand Marketing.

They tackled the big questions about marketing's seat at the leadership table, the future of video content and how companies should be investing in this format, and the critical importance of DEI in modern marketing. Attendees loved having the opportunity to hear from a CEO who understands the power of marketing and brand building.

MKTG WMN Connect wasn’t your typical professional event

As the day wound down with a celebratory happy hour, one thing became clear: this wasn't just another professional coworking event. It was a reminder that sometimes the most productive thing we can do is step away from our screens and connect with other brilliant minds in our field - in person.

"I probably wouldn't have met many of these incredible marketers if it weren't for this event," shared one attendee. "The connections made here aren't just LinkedIn additions – they're real relationships with people who understand your daily challenges and celebrations."

We knew a day like this was needed, but until we were in the thick of experiencing it, we didn’t realize exactly how much!

“The event was truly masterfully organized. So many impactful details were thought of - the swag was beautiful and very high quality, everyone was kind and helpful, the career coaching session was so supportive, the food was nutritious and high quality, and there was a perfect balance between informational panels, time to chat with others, and time to get some work done,” —Kremi Mestanova
